Guildford and Coventry meet at the Spectrum on Tuesday night with both teams trying to edge away from falling out of the playoffs as the end of the regular season draws ever closed.
Both sides have 42 points, Coventry having played one game fewer, and have four-point advantage over Manchester, who in turn have played at least one game more.
Storm will be watching this game closely. Were the sides to go to overtime or a shootout, it would leave Manchester five points behind with only seven games left to play themselves.
Guildford have managed to go .500 in their last eight games which has just about stabilised their position after a losing stretch saw then slide down the table. The Flames' fate is very much in their own hands with back-to-back games against Manchester on the final weekend of the season, but they could yet secure their playoff place ahead of that.
Coventry responded to losing in Dundee with an excellent road win in Glasgow which snapped their losing stretch, and then returned home to comfortably beat the Stars. They could end the night in fifth if they win and Glasgow fail to pick up any points.
The Flames have somewhat had the Blaze's number this season with six wins in eight meetings this season over league and cup.
