Fife Flyers stayed mathematically alive in their quest for a playoff place thanks to a 4-3 win over local rivals Dundee in Kirkcaldy.
Kristian Blumenschein broke the deadlock 3:03 into period two before a touch of fortune handed the Flyers their second of the night - coming out of his crease to play the puck, Stars' netminder Brython Preece fumbled the puck which allowed Jacob Benson to slit it into the empty net for a shorthanded goal just under five minutes later. Phillip Sanche's high wrist shot beat Shane Owen at 31:54 to make it a 2-1 game, but Craig Peacock put the Flyers back two ahead on the powerplay with a rocket of a shot at 37:44.
Matt Carter put the hosts into a three-goal lead 9:04 into what would be the final period, although Dundee scored two goals inside the final 66 seconds to make the final scoreline somewhat closer than it might have otherwise been.
