Dundee Stars kept their hopes of a top-four finish very much alive with an 8-3 dispatching of the Nottingham Panthers on Wednesday night. The Panthers have now conceded at least six goals in their past three games.
Although Christophe Boivin gave the Panthers the lead inside seven minutes, it was an opening period to forget to the Panthers who found themselves 4-1 down after the next 13:32.
Philippe Sanche let fly low from the slot to level things at 7:44, while just over three minutes later Gabriel Desjardins got on the end of Alexandre Ranger's pass into the middle to put Dundee ahead. At 14:27 converted Charlie Combs' pass from behind the net for a powerplay goal, while Dillon Lawrence struck at 16:39 to put the home side well in control.
Spencer Dorowicz banged home the rebound from Lawrence's shot to score shorthanded 3:59 into period two, while Sanche got his second of the night with a slapshot following nice build-up play from Desjardins and Ranger at 28:46.
Mathieu Tousignant pulled the score back to 6-2 just 25 seconds into period three, however Combs put the Stars back five ahead not four minutes later. Jeremy Welsh's fine individual effort brought the score back to 7-3.
Sebastian Bengtsson got on his own rebound to make it eight for the hosts with just under ten minutes to go.
