Ahead of tonight’s Playoff Final, the Elite Ice Hockey League and Motorpoint Arena are delighted to confirm a new partnership to keep the Playoff Finals Weekend in Nottingham for the next six years.

The agreement reached means that the season-ending, showpiece event of the EIHL calendar will stay at the Motorpoint arena in Nottingham until at least 2029. Playoff Finals Weekend has been held in Nottingham since the Elite League’s inception with its first finals weekend in 2004, crowning 17 playoff champions since.

Tony Smith, Elite League Chairman, said: “We are delighted to have been able to secure an agreement with the Motorpoint Arena to keep our Playoff Finals Weekend in Nottingham until at least 2029. The Motorpoint Arena is in an excellent location within the city which makes it so easily accessible for our fans, and provides a great host venue for our showpiece event.

"We look forward to many more seasons of finals weekend in the arena.“

Martin Ingham, Chief Executive of the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena said: “The Playoff Finals is one of the great weekends in the city of Nottingham with a kaleidoscope of colour and fancy dress, combined with friendly rivalries, making the occasion unique in British sport and world ice hockey. Thanks to support from our friends at the Nottingham BID and Greene King, Nottingham will host the Playoff Finals for a further six years and more investment from the Playoff Finals will now go into the Elite League.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to build on our great relationship with the Elite League to make this weekend a fantastic annual celebration of the pinnacle of ice hockey in the UK.”
