Forward Daniel Ciampini will be wearing orange for a second season after the Steelers confirmed his contract extension on Saturday evening.

In 66 games in his debut EIHL season, the 32-year-old forward scored 24 goals and assisted on 41 others. His total of 48 league points lead the Steelers over the regular season.

“I’m really excited to get "Champ" back to build off last year's season. We felt he was one of those important core pieces that was very important for us to get back," said Head Coach Aaron Fox. "He ended up finishing the year with 65 points in 66 games, 24 of which were goals and was tied for team lead in regular season points.

"Champ also led the league in SH goals and was also our most complete two way forward last season. I like his defensive game, it is extremely high end for a guy who’s finished as his team's top scorer in four out of the five seasons he’s spent in Europe. He thinks the game extremely well and had stretches were he was dominant last season.

“I truly believe with him now having a year in the league under his belt and knowing what to expect he will build off those numbers next year."
