Coventry Blaze and Manchester Storm do battle this Wednesday evening for the one remaining place in the Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals.
This one-off 'Play-In' game is winner takes all. Whoever comes out on top over 60 (or more) minutes will join the other seven teams in the next round, while the losing side will see their cup competition end for this season.
Coventry have home advantage because of their better record in the group stage. The Blaze clocked up seven points in eight games, including two home wins against Cardiff. Danny Stewart's team has been good at home this season across all competitions, picking up five wins and only losing two games in regulation from their nine thus far. The Blaze have also not been shy in front of goal on their own ice with 26 goals in their last five games, and only one home match this season where they failed to score less than three. At the back, netminder Jamie Phillips is hovering around the 90% save percentage mark in league and cup.
Manchester picked up six points in the group stage, of which four were home wins against Sheffield. They did however win in Nottingham during the competition and took a 3-1 win from Guildford on Sunday in the league. Matt Ginn has been averaging around 92% of shots saves in both league and cup so far this season, and the Storm will need him to turn away a fair amount against a blaze team that hasn't had many problems scoring in recent weeks.
The teams have met once in each arena so far this season, but both games were won by the Blaze with a two-goal margin.
What happens if it goes to overtime?
There has to be a winner tonight. As this is a straight knock-out game overtime is the same as Challenge Cup and Playoff Finals - 20 minutes sudden-death, which is continuous until a winning goal is scored.
