Tonight: Top of the table clash on FreeSports
Tune in live tonight from 1900
There is live Wednesday night hockey again this week on FreeSports, and it's got the potential to be a cracker of a game.
Leaders Sheffield Steelers host defending champions and third-placed Belfast Giants in this evening's live game from the FlyDSA Arena.
Sheffield, who have played more games then anyone else in the league so far, have the chance to move three points clear at the top if they can get past Belfast. The Steelers may lead the league for now, but by points percentage actually sit fourth overall and therefore need to pick up points against the teams chasing them to stay on top. Coming off the back of a four-point weekend, Aaron Fox's side have reason to be confident. They will however be without the injured Aaron Johnson.
Belfast have the chance to go joint top of the table if they can manage a regulation win tonight, a far cry from the panic a few weeks ago when the Giants were on a four-game losing run. A pair of wins in Cardiff have made things look a lot rosier for Adam Keefe's side who are looking for their first win in Sheffield in almost a year.
"Belfast always have a good roster, they're obviously defending the league title, and have got a lot of high-end guys on their team. I am sure they are going to come with a lot of energy, they are a physical group, if you watched them play in the Champions Hockey League they skate hard, they are physical, so we are going to have to match the intensity...and let our skills take over." - Brendan Connolly (Forward, Sheffield Steelers)
"We have not played Sheffield yet, though we know they are an offensive hockey team, and it will be tough going into their building. We just need to keep going and there is no better time to play more games right now. They are a very offensive hockey team - their defensemen like to jump in and it is really like a five-man offensive unit when they are out there. We just need to stick our game plan. We've been playing very well last weekend so we just need to keep going..do our thing and I'm sure we'll get the win." - Lewis Hook (Forward, Belfast Giants)
