Tonight: Clan and Panthers clash
Friday night hockey in Scotland
Friday night hockey once again involves Glasgow Clan, but this week they're at home and in league action welcoming Nottingham to intu Braehead.
It's a game in which both sides can really use the points. Clan fell three points behind league leaders Sheffield on Wednesday night but now have three games in hand on the Steelers. Zack Fitzgerald's side continue to have the highest points percentage of any team in the Elite League, and to be one of the highest-scoring teams in the league. Clan made two signings on Thursday - youngster Chad Smith joins from Fife Flyers, while Canadian Scott Jackloin comes in from France to boost the team who have Craig Peacock, Scott Tanski and Travis Ehrhardt all out injured. Mathieu Roy is expected to play.
The Panthers have slowly moved themselves back into contention for the top four, and having picked up points in Sheffield and Manchester last weekend Tim Wallace's side are only three points off breaking into that group. Tied on 18 points in a mid-table clog of three teams, the Panthers do have a game in hand to pull away from Coventry and Fife.
"It's a huge test for us and one we're looking forward to. We've been playing well for the past month or so and so think there's no better time to play the top two teams this weekend. Glasgow have been at the top of the league for pretty much the whole season so far, so we have to be ready for what's going to come at us in their building." - Tim Wallace (Head Coach, Nottingham Panthers)
