McKay suspended for boarding
Stars defenseman receives suspension
On Sunday night at the Dundee Ice Arena, at 47:42, Stars defenceman Chris McKay made an illegal hit on Blaze forward Ian McNulty, penalised with a major penalty for Boarding.
As the video shows, McKay and McNulty are in a footrace for the loose puck. McNulty gets in front of McKay and wins the race to the puck. As McNulty makes a play on the puck, McKay delivers a high, hard hit, causing McNulty to be driven dangerously into the boards. This is Boarding.
It is important to note that on this play McNulty is eligible to be hit by McKay, and to do so McKay needs to stay low with his arms tucked and take an angle of approach that allows him to deliver a full legal body check through the shoulder or core of McNulty. McKay, initially, gets low preparing to make body contact, as McNulty makes a play on the puck. There is no significant or unexpected body position change by McNulty, but McKay’s right arm separates from his body and he leaves his feet driving McNulty dangerously into the Boards.
To Summarise:

- History.
