Guildford Flames took two valuable league points in Sunday's dress rehearsal for next week's Challenge Cup Quarter-Final against Nottingham.
The Panthers made quick use of the game's first powerplay , needing only 30 seconds to go ahead through captain Sam Herr form the point. Guildford were level on an advantage of their own at 6:28 thanks to a textbook Calle Ackered slapshot that was tipped in front by Kruise Reddick.
Owen Griffiths gave the visitors the lead 2:24 into the second period, and two minutes later Ian Watters' finish after neat passing from Jesse Craig and John Dunbar extended the advantage to 3-1. A little over ten minutes later Herr picked up a rebound to score after Brett Perlini's initial shot was saved by Wouter Peeters.
Panthers upshot the Flames 9-4 in the final period but were unable to find an equaliser. With the goalie pulled it was Herr who came closest to equalising but he was denied by a diving Peeters to grab the puck when the net was gaping.
