Devils survive Flyers fightback to take win

Cardiff Devils completed a four-point weekend in Scotland on Sunday night, but were made to work hard for them after a fine Fife comeback in the third period.

64 seconds was all it took for the Devils to open the scoring on the powerplay through Stephen Dixon, and with Blair Riley finding the net at 7:24 the Devils led by two after 20 minutes in Kirkcaldy. Masi Marjamaki made it three at 27:52, but the Flyers were on the board some six minutes later through Dylan Quaile. 

Joey Haddad put the Devils back into a three-goal lead at 38:07, but the Flyers were back in things just 56 seconds into the final period thanks to a sliding finish from Tim Crowder. Carlo Finucci tipping in Scott Aarssen's shot on the powerplay at 51:19 was the start of a fantastic 90 seconds or so for the Flyers, who were then level at 51:58 - Kyle Just's shot was blocked by Ben Bowns, but only for Paul Crowder to finish from the edge of the crease and crank up the noise in the Fife Ice Arena. 

However, there was still more drama to follow. Joey Haddad's shot from the point went all the way through at 57:08 to put the Devils back ahead - and take the forward to the top of the league's goal scoring charts. Joey Martin scored into the empty net with 52 seconds left to add some gloss to the final scoreline.
