You couldn't ask for a better way to open Week 13's action in the 2024/25 Elite Ice Hockey League season!
Current league leaders Cardiff Devils host defending Grand Slam Champions Sheffield Steelers on Wednesday night at the Vindico Arena, which continues to be sold out every game this season.
There will be some new faces on the ice since the last time the Devils and Steelers faced each other, and the hosts took a 5-3 victory. Taz Burman is the likely starter in the Devils' net with Mac Carruth and Maksym Duve both ruled out injured, while at the other end of the ice the Steelers are certain to be without Matt Greenfield after he picked up an injury in the CHL.
Cardiff's four-game win-streak was ended by Glasgow Clan last Friday, but they responded with a come-from-behind victory in Fife over the Flyers the following night. Sheffield came back from elimination in the CHL in Berlin with an 8-3 win in Manchester, but went down 4-2 at home to Dundee on Sunday afternoon. In domestic competition, the Steelers have two wins from their last four starts.
