Clan turn it around in final period, beat Storm

Glasgow Clan scored four third-period goals to come from behind and beat Manchester Storm on Friday night at Braehead Arena.

Storm, who had Mike Morin and Ryan Finnerty behind the bench after firing Mike Flanagan midweek, would have been happy with their start - leading after 20 minutes. It was Grant Hebert who gave them the perfect start with the opener after just 38 seconds, shooting a bobbling puck past Landon Bow.

Only an excellent save from Evan Weninger with eight minutes remaining in period two kept the visitors ahead - the Storm goalie getting his blocker to a Deven Sideroff shot after having been found at the far post by Mitchell Heard and looking certain to score.

Starting the final period one down, Clan hit four goals in the final 15 minutes of the game to turn things around. Heard's shot off a faceoff snuck under Wenigner enough for Sideroff to find the loose puck and knock it over the line at 46:23 on the powerplay. Under two minutes later, Cole Ully broke down the wing and fired a shot through Weninger's five-hole to put Clan ahead at 48:14.

With 5:44 to play, Robert Lachowicz intercepted a Storm breakout in the neutral zone and raced through to beat Weninger five-hole again and put Clan 3-1 ahead shorthanded. Storm rolled the dice with 89 seconds to go and pulled Weninger, but a Felix Pare block on a Joe Morrow shot set up the puck perfectly for Lachowicz to skate away with and finish into the empty net to settle a 4-1 scoreline.
