Week 15: Important midweek battles

Week 15 in the 2024/25 Elite Ice Hockey League season sees action start on Wednesday night, and with pretty important fixtures as well.
In the Challenge Cup, Coventry Blaze host Cardiff Devils in a game re-arranged from November. The maths on this one is pretty simple: the Blaze can secure their place in the knock-out stages, and eliminate the Devils, if they win in any fashion. A regulation win for the Devils would still leave them needing to get something against Nottingham Panthers later this month, while an overtime or shootout win for the Devils would leave them needing to beat the Panthers in that final game. Were the Blaze to win, they would move into second place and leave the Panthers needing to pick up at least a point in Cardiff to secure a spot directly in the Semi-Finals.
League action on Wednesday sees the second-placed Guildford Flames head to third-placed Sheffield Steelers, while Belfast Giants in fourth host Dundee Stars.
Friday night's game this week comes from Manchester where Storm entertain the Panthers.
On Saturday, the Storm head into Cardiff while the Panthers return home to face Fife. Coventry are on home ice again as Dundee head south, while Sheffield welcome Glasgow to the Utilita Arena.
Sunday's games see the Steelers head into Belfast in what could be make or break for one team's chances of staying in the league title hunt, depending on results earlier in the week. Cardiff head up to Dundee, while Clan return home to find Guildford waiting for them. Fife round out the weekend with the visit of Coventry.
