Nottingham Panthers earned their 15th point from the last 16 offer with a six-goal shutout win over Fife Flyers.
It was an emotional evening at the Motorpoint Arena, with Adam Johnson's #47 jersey being retired in a special ceremony prior to warm-up.
When the game started, the Panthers wasted no time in going ahead - Jordan Kelsall in the slot putting them in front after only 56 seconds.
Janis Voris in the Flyers' net should arguably have done better on that goal, but was the main reason the Flyers ended the period only a goal behind with a string of excellent stops with pad and glove during the next 19 minutes - he'll certainly feature in Saves of the Week. The visitors should have been level but a scramble around Ryan Bednard's net somehow saw the puck not find the back of the net.
The Panthers took over in the middle period as the Flyers' short bench began to tell. Kris Kontos and Reid Stefanson scored 82 seconds apart to put them into a three-goal lead and effectively settle the game before the 27-minute mark.
Kontos added his second at 49:47 before Didrik Henbrant's snipe and Olli Betteridge’s finish two minutes apart rounded off a comfortable 6-0 victory for the hosts, and gave them a four-point weekend.
