Glasgow Clan picked up two points on the road in Kirkcaldy with an 8-3 win over Fife Flyers, putting them five points clear in a playoff place.
Having survived a -5on-3 penalty kill early, a wild tip on a Steven Seigo shot from the point, possibly off Mitchell Heard or Rylan Schwartz, put the Clan ahead at 10:46 at the Fife Ice Arena, but the home side were level 90 seconds later when Massimo Carozza's pass into the slot found Ryan Foss for an excellent one-time finish. The Flyers couldn't stay level for long though, and were back behind just 59 seconds later as Chris McKay beat Shane Owen at the other end.
Deven Sideroff's goal 70 seconds into period three put the Clan two ahead with a shot that Owen thought was in his glove, while Schwartz pulled off a wrap-around on Owen at 26:52 to put the Clan 4-1 ahead. Schwartz then fed Liam Finlay for a back-post tap in at 30:21 to put the visitors in complete control and bring a time-out from Flyers coach Johnny Curran.
Carozza scored the Flyers' second of the night at 33:53 as the hosts plugged some holes at the back and didn't concede for the rest of the period.
Schwartz grabbed his second of thr night at 44:44, and just 59 seconds after Tyson McLellan made it 7-2 which ended Shane Owen's night. Incoming goalie Janis Voris made an excellent diving stop shortly after coming into the net, but was beaten by Simon Despres with five minutes to play. Austin Farley responded 75 seconds later to make it a final scoreline of 8-3 in favour of the Clan.
