A 6-3 victory over GKS Katowice on Thursday night set them on their way, and on Sunday afternoon they face the Bruleurs de loups of Grenoble. The French side beat Katowice in a shootout on Saturday, putting them a point behind the Devils heading into the final game.
The Devils need to win the game to take the title. Were they to get a point, and Grenoble two, then the Bruleurs de loups would take the prize on IIHF Tie-Break system which looks at the points between teams tied in the first instance:
Taking into consideration the games between each of the tied teams, a sub-group is created applying the points awarded in the direct games amongst the tied teams from which the teams are then ranked accordingly.
Only Nottingham Panthers from have ever won the Continental Cup from the UK. The Devils made the final round in each of the past two seasons, but came up short both times.
