Craig suspended for spearing

Flyers forward receives suspension

On Saturday night in Fife, Fife forward #94 Kieran Craig speared Giants goaltender #1 Jackson Whistle.

As the clock expires at the end of the game, Fife forward #94 Kieran Craig collides with Giants goaltender #1 Jackson Whistle. As a scrum ensues between multiple Giants and Flyers, Whistle pushes Fife forward #5 Noah Delmas to the ice. After contact between Whistle and Delmas, Whistle then goes back into the scrum to confront Kieran Craig.

As a linesperson restrains both Whistle and Craig, Craig, with two hands on his stick, makes a spearing motion making contact with Whistle’s helmet. This is Spearing.

It is important to note that what causes this play to rise to the level of supplemental discipline is the intent. Whilst we acknowledge the spear was not forceful, there is still a risk of injury due to the contact in the helmet/head area.

To Summarise:

  • Spearing

Effective immediately, Fife Flyers forward #94 Kieran Craig is fined and suspended for one game.
