Devils blank Giants again to advance

Cardiff Devils have had to look on the past two seasons as Belfast lifted the Challenge Cup trophy on their own ice - but not this year. The Devils shut out the defending league and cup champions over 120 minutes to advance to this season's final 5-0 on aggregate.
Leading by one from the first leg, the Devils didn't hang around extending their advantage as Stephen Dixon deflected Sean Bentivoglio's pass for 1-0 with 8::48 gone. Sam Duggan doubled the lead on the night from a Josh Batch pass in the corner at 14:37 to give the Devils a three-goal aggregate lead after one period.
Joey Martin's shorthanded effort 1:47 into the second effectively killed the series before Batch tipped Sean McMonagle's drive at 36:12 for what would be the game's final goal.
