Wednesday: Steelers and Devils meet in Cup Semi First Leg

It's Challenge Cup Semi-Final First Leg day in Sheffield, with Cardiff Devils facing the Steelers at the Utilita Arena.

The sides met on Sunday where the Steelers came away with a 3-0 win, their second at home against the Devils after a 4-2 win in Cup group stage action earlier in the season. Every game between these teams this season has gone the way of the home team, with the Devils having won all three in Cardiff so far this season.

Sunday's shutout for Matt Greenfield was his third of the season, and he's now not been beaten in 99 minutes and 32 seconds of EIHL games, since last conceding early in period two in Glasgow on Saturday night.

The Steelers, the defending Challenge Cup Champions, will then travel to Cardiff in a week's time for the return leg.

Whatever happens tonight, the game will end at 60 minutes and the score is carried over to next week. It's one of those rare times in hockey where the game can end as a tie. There is no 'away goals' rule.
