There is a full 10-game schedule this weekend in the Elite Ice Hockey League season, starting with five games all at 7pm on Saturday night.

Belfast Giants are at home twice this weekend, with different opposition on each day. Guildford Flames are in town on Saturday, looking for their first win at the SSE Arena since November 2023. On their last three trips to Belfast, the Flames have only scored two goals, and were shut out on their previous visit this season 2-0. League leaders Belfast were beaten in Dundee last Sunday, their first defeat in eight games. They lead the league by seven points, although have played a game more than the chasing pack.

Cardiff Devils host Coventry Blaze at the Vindico Arena with both teams hoping to catch the teams above them. The Devils, who were long-time leaders of the league, have slipped to fourth after a run of three straight defeats. They are now just three points above the Blaze, albeit with Coventry having playing three games more. The Blaze ended their run of losses with a win over Fife last weekend.

It’s a game of two in-form teams at the Dundee Ice Arena on Saturday night. Off the back of a two-game win streak and seven points out of the last eight, Dundee Stars welcome Nottingham to Tayside. The Panthers have won their last seven straight games, and are only second to Belfast as the league’s best team over the last 20. That form has pushed them up to third. Dundee are the league’s fourth-best team over the last 15 games and have opened up a six-point gap between themselves and falling out of the playoffs, though they have played some three games more than the sides chasing them.

Fife Flyers are back in Glasgow, hoping for a different showing to Wednesday night at Braehead Arena. Three nights ago, the Flyers conceded six in the opening period before eventually being beaten 9-4, a result that left them 21 points short of the playoffs with 21 games to play. The win for Glasgow ended their lengthy run of losses, and moved them four points clear in a playoff place.

The Trans-Pennine derby sees Manchester Storm host Sheffield Steelers at the Storm Shelter. Both teams come into this fixture on a run of two straight league wins, although the Steelers added a midweek Cup victory over Cardiff to their tally – they lead the charge behind first-placed Belfast with seven points to make up and only one game in hand. Manchester sit outside a playoff place and need points wherever they can get them. They’re four points shy of Glasgow, but Dundee are their likely targets with three games in hand on the Stars who are six points ahead.
