Sheffield Steelers ensured that they stay top of the league going into Christmas completing a double against Glasgow Clan this weekend.
Lucas Sandström tipped Marc-Olivier Vallerand’s shot at 7:05 on the powerplay to give the visitors the lead. After having a goal washed out for the net being off, Sheffield did double their advantage at 17:30 after fine work from Nicolai Lemtyugov to get free and slot past Patrick Killeen. Matt Davies made it three on the man advantage at 24:48 and when Anthony DeLuca fired home at the back post with 2:22 left in the period the Steelers had built up a sizable advantage.
Ben O’Connor’s giveaway led to the Clan breaking Tomáš Duba’s shutout with 13:31 to play in period three - but the defenseman was involved when Davies found the next again to make it five at 52:01, the game's final goal.
