Wednesday Night Preview
Title Race Heats Up
With the regular season drawing to a close, every point matters, and Wednesday night's slate of games promises high stakes and intense action. Here's a look at the key matchups.
Belfast Giants vs Fife Flyers
The Belfast Giants will be looking to secure vital points at home against the Fife Flyers. The Giants host the Flyers on the back of a 5-2 victory over the Guildford Flames, whilst the Flyers will look to regroup after their away loss on Sunday to the Coventry Blaze. With the title race so close, dropping points is not an option.
Expect a fired-up Giants team in front of a passionate home crowd. For the Fife Flyers, every game is a chance to disrupt the front runners, and they will be looking to cause an upset.
Glasgow Clan vs Guildford Flames
This matchup has added interest with news of former Great Britain international and Elite Ice Hockey League legend Colin Shields MBE joining the Premier Sports commentary team. This will add extra interest for fans watching the game.
After a disappointing weekend, the Clan will be looking to bounce back as they chase the Flames for 6th place in the league. Likewise, the Flames are in hot pursuit of the Coventry Blaze, who have played one game more and are five points clear. A win for the Flames will certainly add some pressure to the Blaze going into the final weekend of the regular season.
This game will be broadcast on Premier Sports 1 from 7:15 pm.
Nottingham Panthers vs Manchester Storm
This should prove to be an absolute nail-biter, with something on the line for both teams. The Panthers, since their overtime loss to Cardiff on March 9, have been dialled in, winning their next games and keeping the Elite League title within reach.
The Storm, on the other hand, have been relentless of late and will be looking to maintain the momentum after a convincing 6-0 victory over the Cardiff Devils in front of a packed Altrincham Arena. The Panthers are 5-0 against the Storm this season, with Sam Herr and co. looking to make it 6.
Fans across the EIHL will be glued to their screens and seats, as Wednesday night promises to deliver a thrilling chapter in the 2024/25 season.
