Russell leaves Devils after two seasons

Cardiff Devils have confirmed the departure of head coach Pete Russell after two seasons at the club.

Russell won the IIHF Continental Cup title in 2024/25 and led the team to both the Challenge Cup and Playoff Finals. The Devils ended the League season fourth.

Earlier this season, Russell signed a new contract for the 2025/26 season, but had an out-clause that allowed him to move on before the 30f April before the new contract kicked in.

Managing Director Todd Kelman said:

"Pete is a great person and a great coach. We won a European Championship under his leadership and made two finals this season. I want to thank Pete for everything he did for the team over the past two seasons and wish him well going forward."
