Nottingham Panthers came from behind to beat Coventry in overtime for the second time in as many days with a 4-3 OT win at the Skydome.
A four-goal first period saw the deadlock broken after 5:49 through Janne Laakkonen, but the Panthers turned things around with two goals in 74 seconds – Julian Talbot levelling the game before a speculative Ollie Betteridge shot beat CJ Mette from the point at 14:53. Matt Pohlkamp levelled the game on the powerplay at 16:37 to have the scored level after 20 minutes.
The only goal of period two came at 35:33 on the powerplay, Charles Corcoran with an excellent fake before slotting past a beaten Kevin Carr. The go-ahead goal for Corcoran made up for him missing a penalty shot earlier in the period after Evan Bloodoff was hooked on a breakaway.
Coventry held their lead until Georgs Golovkovs equalised from close range at 56:15 but there was still more drama to come. The Blaze were unable to take advantage of a powerplay for the final 2:38 of regulation, and with luke Ferrara in the box for Hooking Julian Talbot crashed home the overtime winner for the Panthers at 61:54.
