Panthers get extra point after Stars' fightback

Nottingham Panthers stayed fourth and within a win of the top three thanks to a shootout victory over Dundee, who twice came from behind to level the game at the Motorpoint Arena.

It was a perfect start for the Panthers who were three up inside eight minutes of the first period. Dylan Malmquist got the first at 3:10, with Sam Herr and then Malmquist against striking within 23 seconds of each other to make it 3-0 with only 7:37 played. Stars' Head Coach Omar Pacha had already called a time out after his side went two down.

Dundee however steadied the ship and were back in the game at 9:41 through Matt Marquardt - and they would end the period only a goal behind thanks to Colton Kroeker's shorthanded breakaway goal at 14:27.

The visitors' comeback was completed by Jagger Drik's finish at 36:37 meaning the teams went into the third period all square. Nottingham looked like they'd won the game late on with Julian Talbot finishing at 54:43, but the Stars battled back and equalised with 2:26 left in regulation through Kevin Dufour.

Neither side could find a goal in overtime, and although goals from Marquardt and Matt Carter did have Dundee ahead in the shootout, Brian Connolly, Jake Hansen and then Talbot all scored to put the Panthers ahead. Dryden Dow unable to find a way past Jackson whistle with the Stars' must-score attempt meant the hosts took the bonus point.
