Glasgow Clan pulled a point further clear of the playoff trapdoor thanks to a late show against Coventry Blaze on Friday night in Braehead.
The visitors, who were impressive over the festive period and climbed into the top five, struck first through Dillon Lawrence with 7:31 played.
A calm finish from Michal Lidhammar to slide the puck under CJ Motte made it a tied game just past the halfway stage, but Coventry were back in the lead before period two was over - after the Clan failed to clear their zone, Justin Hamonic's wrist shot from the point went past a screened Patrick Killeen four seconds before the buzzer.
Coventry thought they'd put the game to bed with a little over five minutes to go, but Andrew Johnston's goal was washed out with a high-sticking penalty called on Janne Laakkonen in the slot. The Clan used the extra man to their advantage with Matt Beca tying the game at 56:41 with a slapshot from the point.
The Blaze had the lion's share of possession in the extra period, but it was Glasgow who took the bonus point thanks to Travis Ehrhardt's rocket with 1:10 left to play.
