Giants back up to third

Belfast Giants capitalised on Nottingham Panthers' loss to move back up to third with a home win against Glasgow Clan.
A great finish from Elgin Pearce put the Giants ahead seven minutes into the game, with Curtis Hamilton making it 2-0 at 14:53 against a Clan side that had lost in Dundee just 24 hours earlier.
David Goodwin's shot finding the net 25 seconds into period two looked to have put the game to bed, but the Clan weren't ready to give up that early. Nolan LaPorte got them back into things at 29:05, and a Matt Haywood goal 84 seconds into the third gave the Clan and their travelling army life.
It was short-lived however with Pearce scoring some four minutes later, and then Paul Swindlehurst's rocket making it 5-2 at 48:40 with the game's final goal.
