The Glasgow Clan have a new Head Coach for the upcoming season, and have turned to 51-year-old Malcolm Cameron to guide them through 2021-22 and beyond.

The Canadian is no stranger to European hockey following two seasons on the continent. After extensive experience in the ECHL, including his last three seasons in the league in charge of Wichita in the ECHL, the Canadian took over at Kaltern/Caldaro in the second tier in Italy in 2019. Early in the season he left to take over as Head Coach of Gyergói, the Transylvanian-based outfit in Hungary's cross-border Erste Liga.

Cameron led the team to a seventh-place regular-season finish, but guided them to the playoff Semi-Finals. Last season, Cameron was relieved of his duties in October after a complicated start for the team, who were forced to play their first month of fixtures on the road due to quarantine restrictions in Romania.

“We’ve spent a considerable amount of time looking at almost thirty different candidates for the role," explained Clan's Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers. "With the anticipated exciting new developments at the club, it was imperative we were able to appoint someone who would bring head coaching experience as well as having carried out a previous hockey operations role off the ice.

"After interviewing a number of candidates all with very impressive backgrounds and experience, we felt Malcolm was the best person for the position. His coaching experience and record was obviously key in the decision making, however his invaluable recruiting experience, extensive contacts and connection to Scotland were fundamental in the decision-making process.

"Malcolm is extremely excited to be coming to Scotland and joining The Clan, we’re looking forward to welcoming him to Glasgow for an exciting new period for everyone associated with the club."
