The Sheffield Steelers have added to their forward lines with the signing of Czech forward Martin Látal for 2021/22.
the 33-year-old has spent 14 years in the Czech Extraliga, most recently in Litvinov, but with over five seasons in Mladá Boleslav.
Latal was a junior in Kladno, the home of Jaromír Jágr, and was drafted #131 overall to the Phoenix Coyotes in 2006, however never played a game in the show. In 568 Czech Extraliga games, Latál has clocked up 57 goals and 100 assists.
"We are looking to continue the success we have had with our Czech connection in bringing Martin to Sheffield," said Head Coach Aaron Fox. "Martin is considered one of the fastest players in the Czech Extraliga. I’m sure he will come in and be a dynamic player who I think with his speed will fit perfectly into our up-tempo pace-driven style of play.
"As well, he’s excellent on the PK and I think playing him with the right guys will open up his offensive game."
