The second player to be announced on the Glasgow Clan's roster for the new season is forward Colin Campbell.
The 28-yea-old spent last season in France scoring seven goals and assisting on 14 others through 22 games. In 2019, he played in Hungary for the Fehévári Titánok and was 23+19 in 42 games.
Prior to hearing across the Atlantic, the Canadian spent five seasons at Nipissing University.
“I hope the fans will see good things from me this year,” Campbell said. “I like to think I’m a good skater and I’ve been a goalscorer in the past, but if there’s another scorer in there, I can be more of a playmaker.
“My goal was always to play in the UK and the Elite League. I never really got the chance until now so I jumped on it when the opportunity came up. I know Chris Culligan and Joey Haddad, who have both played in Cardiff and they’re big names where I come from so I have high expectations of the league and the hockey.
“I’m really excited to be coming over and it’s always been a dream of mine to come to Scotland so I can’t wait to get over and live there for a season at least.”
New Clan Head Coach Malcolm Cameron was aware of the forward the season before last. “I coached against him a couple of years ago and I didn’t know him personally, although we’re from the same area and he was coached in junior by an old friend of mine, who said some great things about him,” Cameron said.
“When I saw him in Hungary, he was their best player - a point a game in a struggling team - and I observed that he skates well, he’s strong with the puck and makes plays at speed.
“He can score on the rush or in front of the net, a good powerplay guy too and I think he’s getting better from what I’ve seen of him. Colin’s a classic late bloomer and I’m excited about him coming.“
