Defenseman Cody Sol is Malcolm Cameron's latest addition to his Glasgow Clan roster for 2021/22.
The 6'4" defenseman brings considerable size to the Clan's blueline as well as nine seasons' worth of experience in the ECHL. Sol has played 482 regular season games in the coast, scoring 52 goals and assisting on 106 others. The 30-year-old also played 28 games over three years in the AHL.
"It’s an exciting opportunity for me after playing in this league for nine years and coming to Scotland seems like a good spot for me,” said the defenseman, who has played all of his hockey across the Atlantic so far. "I was getting to the point where I’d heard so much from my friends who have played overseas that I wanted to come over and do it myself.
"It also gives me the chance meet different people and experience different cultures rather than stay in Canada or America. The team looks a good crew the coach is putting together, with some young talents out of college and some experienced guys that I’ve come up against in the past.
"There looks like a good leadership group there already and the group we’re assembling has a lot of skill and score goals so it’s one I’m looking forward to be part of."
“Cody is a big, veteran defenceman who plays a lot of minutes,” added Cameron. “He has good size, a good shot and works well with the stick and can play on both special teams, in powerplay and in penalty kill.
"He’s also a good leader, on and off the ice and someone who will undoubtedly stick up for his teammates as evidenced by his CV.
"Cody has been a big player, wherever he’s gone and has played for some successful teams in the ECHL and we’re delighted to add him to the Clan this coming season."
