There are Premier Sports Elite League points on the line at Ice Arena Wales and the Dundee Ice Arena tonight.
1900 Cardiff Devils vs. Nottingham Panthers (Tickets | Webcast)
The first competitive meeting of the season in Cardiff between the Devils and Panthers comes just shy of two weeks after the Panthers ran out 5-2 victors when the teams met in Nottingham.
That game was decided by a flurry of third-period goals and has helped the Panthers into a winning streak of three straight games which ended with Friday’s defeat by Belfast. Tim Wallace’s side had also clocked up five wins from their last six games prior to that, though went into their week’s games minus Steve Lee and Massimo Carozza who were both placed on Injured Reserve.
Since losing to the Panthers, Cardiff have recorded two wins. While up top the Devils have the league's leading goal scorer in Brodie Reid, at the other end they also have the second-best goals-against average of any team at 2.40 per game. Jarrod Skalde's side have only conceded two in their last pair of matches.
1900 Dundee Stars vs. Guildford Flames (Tickets | Webcast)
Guildford make their first long trip to Scotland of the new season hoping for a repeat of the meeting between the teams in England a few weeks ago.
That night the Flames blanked the Stars 3-0, a result that started Dundee's run of five straight losses. Guildford have a pair of wins and losses since that fixture.
Hosts Dundee are the only team in the league yet to register a point, apart from Glasgow who won't enter until next weekend. Omar Pacha's team know what they need to do to turn their form around - increase their average goals per game to more than one (league lowest), and reduce their average goals against from 3.25 (second-highest overall). More positively, their special teams are among the strongest in league games alone.
Averaging 3.60 goals per game in league play, Guildford are among the top shooters in the league and go into this fixture with a 3-0-2 record as they look to attack the top four.
