Giants dominate Panthers on Premier Sports

An impressive performance from the Belfast Giants saw them brush the Nottingham Panthers aside live on Premier Sports, with Tyler Beskorowany celebrating a 26-shot shutout.

Belfast led by two after the opening 20 minutes in what was a great start for the visitors outshooting their hosts 20-10. The Giants took the lead in unusual circumstances. A funny bounce off the end boards from David Goodwin's dump in completely wrongfooted Panthers goalie Kevin Carr and allowed JJ Piccinich the simple task of slotting into the empty net with just 29 seconds played.

On the six-minute mark the Giants doubled their lead when Piccinich's shot hit the post but Scott Conway was on hand to bury the rebound and make it 2-0. Kevin Car kept the Panthers in the game with an incredible stick save as the period ticked down, but that was one of few points of note for the Panthers in the xirst period.

Two down after the opening period, the Panthers needed the next goal if they were to find a way back into the game. However, Carr saved the initial shot from Mark Cooper and Tyler Soy, but the latter had the awareness to pick out Slater Doggett who had a wide-open cage to throw the puck into at 21:49. Soy then set up Cooper for the Giants' fourth with a beautiful pass from the back of the net at 24:40.

Playing 5-on-4 in the middle of period three, the Giants extended their lead to 5-0 when JJ Piccinich drove the net and released high into Carr's net for his second of the game.

The game fizzled out in the final five minutes as the Giants recorded their second road win in the league of this season.
