The first five-game slate in the 2021/22 Premier Sports Elite League season starts with two games on Sunday afternoon with the Glasgow Clan set to take the ice for their first game this season!
Belfast Giants vs. Glasgow Clan (Tickets | Webcast)
Clan fans have had to wait a day longer than expected for their long-awaited debut in the 2021/22 season, but it's finally arrived with their road trip to Belfast.
Malcolm Cameron, the team's new Head Coach, will finally see how his roster stacks up in competitive action after several weeks of training camp in Scotland. The team played a midweek exhibition game against Solway, but this will be their first test against EIHL opposition.
In Belfast, the Clan will face a team smarting from a heavy road defeat in Sheffield yesterday evening. The Giants shipped five goals in the opening period, and seven overall, for the heaviest defeat of the season to date.
The Giants are expected to have Head Coach Adam Keefe back on the bench after missing the past few games due to COVID-19 protocol.
Nottingham Panthers vs. Machester Storm (Tickets | Webcast)
Premier Sports Challenge Cup action in Manchester sees the Storm facing the Panthers with a win the only option to keep their cup campaign alive.
Manchester sit last overall in the combined ranking across all groups and must win both of their final two games to have any chance of making the Quarter-Finals. With Coventry already on four points and the Storm having zero, failure to win tonight would see Ryan Finnerty's team eliminated from the competition.
The Storm also need to ensure they win the game in regulation, otherwise they would be unable to surpass the Blaze on the 'Regulation Wins' tie-breaker.
For the Panthers, this is their second home game of the weekend. They ran out 4-3 winners against Dundee in overtime on Saturday night in league play. So far as the cup is concerned, the Panthers will face Sheffield home and away once more in games that will decide who wins the group and goes seeded into the next round.
