Will Kerlin let it all out after backstopping the Nottingham Panthers to a 5-4 shootout win over the Manchester Storm on Sunday afternoon.
In his second start since joining the team in the off-season, following a stint in the Elite Series, Kerlin save four shots out of five to earn his team the extra point after they tied it late on. "It was a very fun game to be a part of," said the 20-year-old. "I was very pumped because of how hard the team played in front of me and for us to tie the game with only six seconds left.
"Then to go to a shootout, I was very happy that we managed to get the win as a team."
All alone in his crease, Kerlin didn't have much time to think about facing the five Storm shooters. "I think that you just have to trust your training," he explained. "Our team has some amazing talent so being able to work with them on breakaways and shootouts in practice has helped me prepare for when we have to go to a shootout."
Kerlin has wins in both starts again the Storm in the Premier Sports Challenge Cup this season, having been given the opportunity by Head Coach Tim Wallace to start those games. "I am loving playing for the Panthers. It is really nice to have trust from both Tim and Gui to play me in these games. I just want to keep proving myself in these games whenever I get the opportunity" he concluded.
