Blaze make it perfect opening weekend

Two early goals in the first period were enough to help Coventry Blaze past Nottingham Panthers on Sunday evening at the Skydome, and ensure Danny Stewart's side ended Week 1 with a perfect record.
Garrett Johnston was given time and space to wrist home with 2:47 played off an excellent backhanded pass from Ross Venus. At 8:29, John Curran was also allowed too much time to line up his shot past past Jack Berry and double the home side's lead.
Tanner Sorenson finally found a way past Paavo Hölsä for the Panthers 12:35 into period two, but that would be the only time they'd beat him on the night - the Finn ended the game with 25 saves and a 96.15%.
The Panthers were unable to find a dramatic, late tying goal as they had done a day earlier against Guildford, allowing Coventry to record a four-point weekend.
