Guildford Flames earned their first win of the season with a well-deserved road victory at Ice Area Wales against Cardiff Devils in the Premier Sports Challenge Cup.
The Flames found themselves two ahead after 20 minutes in Wales thanks to goals just under ten minutes apart. Daniel Tedesco beat Taran Kozun blocker side 9:58 into the game when he was given too much time to pick his spot around the circle. At 19:26, Robert Lachowicz, dressing in his 799th Elite League game, deflected Ben O'Connor's blueline shot into Kozun's net from the slot.
Jake Coughler got the Devils back to within one with a goal 84 seconds into period three, but a Ben O'Connor one-timer against his former team put the Flames back two ahead with 43:08 on the clock.
The Devils pulled Kozun with two minutes to go but failed to create any clear-cut scoring chances, ad Guildford held on for the 3-1 win.
