Angeli fined for high stick

DOPS decision after game on 29/09/22

The Premier Sports Elite League's Department of Player safety has fined Belfast Giants' #88 Darik Angeli for an incident in the Game between the Clan and Giants on 30 September 2022.

Darik Angeli Effective immediately, Belfast Giants' #88 Darik Angeli is fined for his actions (High Stick) at 53:52.

• Following on from the scrum of players where Angeli was penalized for roughing, instead of heading directly to the penalty bench as instructed by the officials, Angeli re-engages verbally with Clans’ Mitch Jones.
• During the initial verbal confrontation, Angeli raises his stick horizontally and carelessly makes contact with the helmet / face of Mitch Jones.
• The high stick by Angeli is not deemed to have occurred due to a normal part of the game as outlined in the High-Sticking Rule 60.

Angeli is reminded that he must be in control and responsible for his stick at all times. The incident will be recorded on the player's record for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
