A five-goal win over Scottish rivals Glasgow Clan ensured Fife Flyers qualified for the knock-out stage of the Premier Sports Challenge Cup on Sunday night.
The home side blitzed their opponents in the opening period. When Brayden Sherbinin's long shot went through Zech Driscoll at 6:38 they never looked back and a three-goal spell in two minutes put the Flyers in firm control.
Zack Phillips ripped a wrist shot high past the Clan goalie at 12:23 for 2-0, while Shawn Cameron finished from a perfect Janne Laaakkonen feed on a 2-on-1 rush to make it three at 13:40. 43 seconds later, Sherbinin cut in from the wig and scored backhand to five Fife a 4-0 lead that they took into the first intermission.
That lead became five 1:16 into period two through Joas Emmerdahl, while Phillips made it six at 33:29. Nolan LaPorte got Clan on the board with 54 seconds left in the middle game.
Gary Haden scored the visitors' second of the night with just over eight minutes to play, but Bari McKenzie capped off the home side's rout with their seventh with 7:07 left after Clan failed to clear their lines.
