Nottingham Panthers made it a much-needed four-point weekend with their second victory over Manchester Storm inside 24 hours on Sunday night.
It took until early in the third period for this tight game to finally see some scoring, although Storm had a goal washed out in the opening period for goalie interference. When the deadlock was broken, it came off the stick of Kevin Ekman-Larsson 1:46 into the third period, although Finlay Ulrick may have got a touch in front.
Kelly Summers levelled with a back-post finish from David Levin's feed at 43:36 for the Panthers, before Stephen Anderson deflected Brett Welychka's pass to put the visitors ahead with 7:16 to play. Anthony DeLuca shot high from a reverse Scott Simmonds pass to tie things up again at 54:38.
No goals were scored in the final five minutes as both sides took a point. With no winner in overtime, the game headed to a shootout where Craig Puffer scored what would be the decisive shot in Round 10, with Ryan Barrow unable to convert for Storm.
