Guildford Flames took advantage of Sheffield being in cup action to extend their lead at the top of the Premier Sports Elite League to four points with a three-goal win over Dundee Stars.
The start of the game was delayed by some 90 minutes due to a serious injury to a public skater beforehand, but when things did get underway the hosts made a flying start. Mike Crocock 's tip on Bradley Lalonde's shot 84 seconds in made it 1-0, with Ian McNulty doubling the home side's lead at 3:41. Robert Lachowicz and Lalonde both added further goals in the opening period to put Guildford four ahead after 20 minutes.
Kris Inglis got Dundee on the board 4:35 into period two, but any faint hopes of a comeback were dashed when Ryan Tait re-established the Flames' four-goal advantage with 7:15 left in the middle frame.
Former Flame Chris Gerrie scored against his old team 1:57 into the third, and Dundee were back to within two when Ben Sokay scored with 7:45 to go. However, Sam Marklund's empty-netter sealed the deal for Guildford with 62 seconds remaining.
