Nottingham Panthers responded to a derby defeat against Sheffield Steelers on Saturday night with a three-goal win over Cardiff Devils on Sunday afternoon.

The Panthers led by two after the opening period thanks to a pair of goals just 22 seconds apart. Former Devil Matthew Myers made it 1-0 on the powerplay at 18:41, followed by Stephen Anderson netting high from the slot at 19:03.

3:05 into period two, Cole Sanford found the back of Alex Dubeau's net after Trevor Cox's shot came back off the crossbar. However, the Panthers hit another pair of goals before the period was out to take full control. Just over five minutes after the Devils thought they were back in things, Brett Welychka one-timed Craig Moore's pass past Taran Kozun to make it 3-1, while Adam Brady wrested home from almost the same spot at 35:46.

Welychka scored the second of the night on the empty net with 1:53 to play after the Devils pulled Kozun with over three minutes left on the board to try and find a way back into the game, while Brodie Reid's snipe pulled a late one back for the Devils.
