Stars end losing run with victory over Devils

Dundee Stars ended a seven-game losing streak with a victory over Cardiff Devils on Saturday night.

The home side led three times before eventually holding onto a third-period lead.

Period one ended all square after Ben Sokay had opened the scoring for the Stars with 10:12 played, only for Ryan Penny. to tie things up with 3:28 left before the buzzer.

Carter Folk put them back ahead 3:29 into period two, but under four minutes later Josh Waller had the visitors back on level terms. Elijah Barriga put the Stars back ahead at 36:14 for a lead they'd carry into the break.

Cardiff needed only 41 seconds in period three to tie things up through Joey Martin, but when Barriga struck again at 45:24 the Devils were in a hole they wouldn't this time be able to find a way out of. The Stars forward completed a hat trick with 5:09 left to give the Stars some breathing space.
