Fife Flyers completed a four-point weekend with a 6-1 thrashing of Nottingham Panthers on Sunday night in Kirkcaldy.
Zack Phillips opened the scoring at 10:02 to put the Flyers ahead with a quick wrist shot, from which the home side never really looked back. Chris Lawrence scored their second goal early in the second period, putting the puck behind Jack Berry on a quick breakaway at 21:02 after the Panthers turned the puck over on the offensive blue line. Janne Kivilahti then put the Flyers further ahead, scoring at 24:09 before Mikael Johansson made the it 4-0 at 37:13.
Johansson scored his second goal of the night in the middle of the third period when he tipped Brayden Sherbinin's shot into the Panthers' net on the powerplay. Shane Owen was denied his shutout when Michael Caruso got Nottingham on the board at 53:23, however the home side had the final word as Zack Phillips then netted another goal for the Flyers on the powerplay at 55:51, following Mathieu Gagnon's ejection for a nasty cross-check, setting the final score at 6-1.
