Tonight: Panthers and Flames start weekend double header

Nottingham Panthers and Guildford Flames meet for the first of two encounters in 24 hours this Friday night in the Viaplay Elite League.

The teams placed sixth and first respectively play at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham tonight before heading to Guildford on Saturday.

For the league-leading Flames, this weekend is an opportunity to potentially extend their advantage over the teams chasing below. With Belfast and Sheffield playing each other twice, the Flames can take advantage of whoever drops points with wins against the Panthers.

Nottingham had an excellent home win over Belfast last weekend but were then thrashed 6-1 in Fife as they looked to follow it up. On their own ice, however, the Panthers have won four straight games.

The Panthers won the only meeting between the sides this season so far 4-3 on opening weekend. It is one of only three games that the Flames have lost this season in 16 played.
