Fife Flyers produced an excellent road display to score five on the road in Manchester and beat the Storm by four goals on Saturday night.
After a scoreless opening period, notable mainly for Tyson Fawcett taking objection to a Mikael Johansson hit and starting a fight just 16 seconds in, Lucas Sandstrom backhanded the puck into the top of the net on a rebound to make it 1-0 on the powerplay 38 seconds into period two. On 24 minutes exactly, Jonas Emmerdahl attempted to throw the puck across the front of Hayden Lavigne's net but his shot flew over the Storm goalie's right shoulder at the near post and into the net. When Zack Phillips made it 3-0 93 seconds later, Storm Head Coach Matt Ginn pulled Lavigne for James Downie.
49 seconds into period three, Janne Kivilahti fired home in front from the slot to make it 4-0, while fellow countryman Janne Laakkonen made it five with 9:08 to play. Scott Simmonds got Storm on the board with 4:23 left in regulation.
On the buzzer, Fawcett and younger Finn Paige had a coming together with the Storm being assessed a spearing major, while both players also took five minute penalties for fighting.
