Manchester Storm brought league leaders Guildford Flames' 11-game winning streak to a crashing end with an 8-1 thumping of Paul Dixon's men at the Storm Shelter.
Jesper Ohrvall set up Ryan Barrow for the game's opening goal at 9:13, with the latter pulling a fine move in front of Eamon McAdam to put the hosts one ahead. Under five minutes later, on a delayed penalty, Zac Herrmann doubled the home side's lead with a one-timer from just inside the blue line.
The leaders' opening period got even worse at 15:44 when Ben O'Connor turned the puck over in the neutral zone allowing Stephen Johnson to set up Anthony DeLuca for a nice breakaway finish.
Barrow grabbed his second of the game at 27:50, with Ohrvall then hitting a quick-fire double at 36:52 and 36:54 respectively. Scott Simmonds scored the home side's seventh with just over five minutes to play, responding to Ryan Tait getting Guildford on the boatrd at 46:58. Anthony DeLuca finished off the scoring with a very well-take penalty shot to give Storm a huge home win while Guildford saw their lead at the top cut to just three points.1
