Belfast Giants ended their home run in 2022 at the SSE Arena with victory over Fife Flyers in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,581 on Thursday night.
The only goal of the opening period went the way of the home side Ben Lake got the goal at 11:13 when he found Josh Roach on the other side of the attacking zone, and the defenseman played it back to the GB international forward to one-time past Shane Owen.
Zack Phillips levelled the scores 47 seconds into period two with the final touch on a loose puck around Peyton Jones' net, but it was the Giants netminder who came out the better when Janne Laakkonen raced through on a breakaway with the scores still tied late in the middle frame.
Mark Garside put the Giants back in front at 31:10 with his first goal of the season., tipping Roach's feed past Owen.
Garside was then the provider for David Gilbert's goal that put the Giants two ahead with 10:38 left to play in period three - a reverse pass allowing Gilbert to beat Owen high on the short side.
That was where the coring ended as the Flyers, who hung around well in the game, were unable to find a further way back into the game.
