Saturday: Pride Nights continue across league

There are five games this Saturday night in the Viaplay Elite League, and Pride Week continues with more awesome pride nights across the country!

We start in Guildford at 6pm, where the league leaders welcome Cardiff Devils to the Spectrum. An excellent weekend last time out for the Flames sent them three points clear at the top, with only a home cup defeat to Belfast the only blip on their recent form. Cardiff went third with a Friday night win over Belfast. While the Devils won both cup meetings here between the teams, the Flames are playing to make it three wins out of three at home to the Devils in the league.

An hour later, Manchester Storm welcome Dundee Stars where seventh plays eighth. Storm are four points clear in a playoff place, but Dundee will be hoping to cut the gap between them and Manchester down to just a point with a road win. Manchester haven't won at home since Boxing Day, while Dundee have the league's worst road record with only seven points from 18 games.

Belfast play their final game of a three-match road stretch this week in Nottingham. Both sides were in action on Friday night with the Panthers winning 3-1 in Glasgow, and the Giants going down by 4-1 in Cardiff after conceding three goals in the opening ten minutes. Netminder Peyton Jones could start against his former team for the Panthers.

In Sheffield, the Steelers play hosts to Glasgow Clan as second take on ninth in the standings. The hosts have won all four meetings between the sides this year by a combined score of 22-6 and are playing for the home sweep. Clan's last win in Sheffield was in September 2019 - they were beaten by Nottingham on Friday night this week.

The day's final game starts in Kirkcaldy at 7.15pm with the visit of Coventry Blaze to Fife Flyers. Coventry are sandwiched in fifth with a good cushion stopping them from falling lower, but chipping away at the top four still. Fife fell to the bottom of the league table last Sunday. The sides met last Sunday in a game which saw no goals scored over 65 minutes.
